Deloitte Technology Fast50 Nominees Announcement

Five Belgian Companies Selected, twice the number compared with last year
7 September 2010

Brussels, 07 September 2010 - Deloitte has announced the fifty Deloitte Benelux Technology Fast50 nominations today. This year's event is above all characterised by the increased number of Belgian registrations: 24 Belgian companies were on the starting line for the election. Among them, five have been nominated in the list of the 50 companies with the fastest growth rate. Last year, the Fast 50 list included only two Belgian candidates: Netlog from Ghent and Clear2Pay from Mechelen. Today, there are five Belgian candidates, including Galapagos NV from Mechelen, iVox from Leuven and Nascom from Genk. The winner of the Technology Fast50 Award 2010 will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on 07 October 2010, during which the final classification will also be published.

Deloitte's intention in organising the Fast50 election is to promote and support the technological industry and other segments of this market in the Benelux countries. Technology Fast50 above all rewards growth, technological innovation, thrive, endurance and vision. Participants must post a growth rate of more than 400% over the last five years. They come from both the public and the private sector and cover all technological segments - software, the Internet, biotechnology/life sciences, computers/peripherals, semiconductors, means of communication/networks, and media/leisure establishments. The most striking element this year is the large number of selected candidates in the `Internet' segment. About half (24) of the 50 candidates are involved in this segment, while the number of selected candidates in the software segment amounts to 15.

Last year, Belgian companies had been able to take part in the election for the first time - at the time of the 10th anniversary of the Deloitte Technology Fast50 - and that was good news for them since the Belgian company Netlog (on-line community website) won first place. Today, there are five Belgian firms in the running: CORETEC Engineering (Angleur), Galapagos NV (Malines), iVox (Leuven), Nascom (Genk) and Voxbone (Brussels).

The candidates selected for the Fast50 election are mainly involved in the Internet and software industries. Luc Van Coppenolle, TMT Practice leader leader and Partner at Deloitte Belgium, declared: "We're delighted that so many Belgian companies are taking part in this contest. This shows that there is real 'entrepreneurship' spirit in the technology industry in Belgium, a particularly encouraging factor for all. We're also very proud to see that these rapidly growing companies have managed to get themselves under the spotlight!"
