Deloitte announces nominations for Technology Fast50 and Rising Star awards

The Fast50 and Rising Stars nominees are reveiled!

Diegem, 5th September 2013 — Deloitte today announced the fifty companies that have been nominated for the 14th edition of the Deloitte Technology Fast50 awards. These fifty companies have all been nominated based on their growth in turnover, and will have the opportunity during the Award ceremony, to be held at Het Klokgebouw in Eindhoven on 10th October, to be recognised at the pinnacle of the corporate rankings. The ten candidates for the Rising Star Awards were also announced. Each one will be making an “elevator pitch” on the 10th in their bid to win the title of Rising Star 2013.

The Deloitte Technology Fast50 is a programme that recognises the fifty fastest-growing technology companies in the Benelux. The companies taking part in the Deloitte Technology Fast50 come from both the public and private sectors. They represent one or more technology segments and have been established for more than five years. A large proportion of these companies’ turnover comes from technology they have developed themselves in full, or from an application that they have developed from an existing technology. It is only logical that these companies should devote such significant amounts of time and attention to R&D. In previous years, Internet companies have scored particularly well in the awards for experiencing high levels of growth in their turnover. This year, approximately half of the nominees are from the online world.

Details of the fifty nominees can be found at www.fast50.be. The winner of the Technology Fast50 2013 award will be announced on 10th October.

Research and development
"Once again this year, we have seen a lot of companies nominated for the Fast50 list for the first time,” says Luc Van Coppenolle, partner at Deloitte and TMT Industry Leader. “We view this as a very positive development and it demonstrates that there is still plenty of movement going on in the technology sector in the Netherlands and Belgium. Each year there are always numerous Internet companies on the list of nominees and these continue to be dominant. Software and telecoms companies are also well represented and there are a number of high-tech companies on the list, too. And once again this year, the companies nominated for the title of Rising Star look like promising businesses that no doubt we will see at a later stage on the Fast50 list."

Rising Star
The Rising Star category is for companies under five years of age. These young, promising businesses will be judged for their turnover potential, scalability and innovative capabilities by an independent jury chaired by Alexander Ribbink from Prime Ventures. At the Rising Star event that precedes the Fast50 Award Ceremony, the judges will be making their decisions after assessing pitches for the Rising Star of 2013 and the Most Disruptive Innovator. Details of the Rising Star nominees are also available at www.fast50.be.
